About the School

Manta's school is located on the third floor of a building only blocks from Murcielago Beach, the city's main beach, as well as the downtown area. The top floor is used as student residence, offered only to students studying at Surpacifico. The school (and apartment) has a big balcony that looks out to the heart of the city. There are classrooms for individual lessons, as well as group classes.

About the location

Manta is a picturesque and important port on the Pacific Ocean, located in a dry tropical forest with an average annual temperature of 25 degrees Celsius (77° F).

Because it has some of South America's most breathtaking beaches, Manta was selected as the site of the sixth South American Windsurfing Championship. It is acknowledged for its diving and sport fishing. It also serves as the primary industrial port of Ecuador's tuna industry.

Courses:

1. Intensive Spanish:

Individual attention program consisting of 4 to 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm. It is a program designed for the foreign visitor that needs to gain the most out of their short time with the Institute. The class will include intensive grammar study, vocabulary, reading and pronunciation of the Spanish language with useful exercises and conversation practice.

SPANISH INTENSIVE (ONE TO ONE INSTRUCTION)

2. Manta Activo:

Weekly individual attention program of 30-35 hours combining Spanish classes with daily visits within and outside of the city. This program will allow the student the opportunity to put into practice Spanish that is learned in the class by means of different excursions with their professor.

MANTA ACTIVO (One to one instruction, included activities)

3. Spanish and surfing:

This program offers 2 weeks of intensive individual Spanish instruction (4 hours per day) accompanied by a basic surfing course with an accredited instructor (2 hours per day). Surf board is included. Accomodation with a host family is also included. The surf lessons are for all levels. We make the surf lessons in different in Manta and surroundings: Murcielago Beach, San Lorenzo, Las Pinas.  

4. Spanish and Kiteboarding:

2 weeks of Spanish course / 20 hours per week, in combination of 10 hours (2 hours daily) of Kiteboarding Basic course (Level I)

• Lodging with a host family (private room, all meals and laundry service)

5. Group Classes:

Group attention program 3 to 5 hours per day, (minimum 3/ maximum 5 students) Monday to Friday, between 8:30am-1:30pm. It is a program designed for groups of friends traveling together with the same level of Spanish who are interested in taking lessons as a group.

Activities Available

In our prices are included the dancing lessons (once per week) and the typical cooking lessons (every two weeks). In addition we organize different activities every week at cost. This means that the students only have to pay for the expenses of the activity (transportation, entrance fees, etc.). In Manta, we have activities such as visits to nearby beaches, Machalilla National Park (Isla de la Plata), museums, "Bosque protector de Pacoche (Pacoche Forest Preservation)", Montecristi (where the famous "Panama hats" are made), etc.

Accommodation

We offer 3 types of accommodations: Host family (includes private room, all meals and laundry service), Students’ apartment (fully furnished apartment, without meals or laundry), and Hostel (private room with private bathroom)

Full details:

Host family: Our host families are located very close to the school, between 10 and 25 minutes walking distance. We have a group of host families prepared and qualified to receive our students immediately.

Student’s apartment: The apartment is just for 1 or 2 people. It is located at 15 minutes walking distance from the school. We also have another apartment in the same building of the school for 3-4 students.

Hostels: Hotels are situated in the close vicinity of the school. The price varies between 6 and 10 USD. There is generally no access to a kitchen.
