This program is for teenage students (from 13 to 17 years of age). Readings may change according to the interests of the students.
A placement exam will be given the first day of class to determine ability level. If the college requires a minimum proficiency in Spanish, such as a year or two of Spanish instruction, we can divide the students into the following ability levels:
If no Spanish instruction is required prior to coming to Ecuador, then a beginner level can be included for students with no previous Spanish background.
Each level includes:
Beginners: Short stories
Intermediate: South American and Ecuadorian legends
Upper Intermediate: Spanish and Latin American authors, stories
Advanced: Latin American literature, various authors
First week:A special gathering with local university students. The purpose of this activity is to give North American students the opportunity to meet new
people and make some friends with whom they can interact and practice Spanish. This activity is carried out on Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm and includes dinner.
In this activity students go to the local market and buy ingredients to prepare a typical Ecuadorian dish with the help of their homestay families. The students bring the dish to class, explain how it was prepared and share it with the rest of the students.
Lecture: topic according to the students’ interests or community service

We arrange homestays with carefully selected families. Homestays include
meals, laundry, and private bedroom. The student will be a member of the
family, sharing in their activities.

The summer program can include orientation in Quito which includes stay in the hotel and visit to the most important turistical sites in Quito.
